Diamond Packaging Awarded Gold in 2020 EcoVadis CSR Assessment

Diamond Packaging today announced that it has been awarded a Gold rating for the fourth consecutive year, based on its 2020 EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assessment. The company’s score classifies Diamond’s overall CSR performance as “Advanced” and places it in the top 2% of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis.

EcoVadis operates the first collaborative platform providing Supplier Sustainability Ratings for global supply chains. EcoVadis was founded with the belief that global businesses can make a huge positive impact on improving environmental and social practices globally, through their supply chains. 

 “We are thrilled with this recognition as it affirms our CSR commitment and value as a supply chain partner,” said Dennis Bacchetta, director of marketing and founding member of Diamond’s Green Team. “Today, Diamond’s packaging is designed utilizing recyclable or recycled paperboards (many FSC-certified), and manufactured using 100% clean, renewable wind energy, in a Zero Manufacturing Waste to Landfill (ZMWL) facility.” 

Diamond reported on its industry-leading greenbox sustainability initiative to research, design, and implement packaging solutions that are innovative and more sustainable. The core of the initiative – designs, materials, and methods – represents a comprehensive approach to packaging that minimizes environmental impact throughout the supply chain.

Diamond Packaging Donates 100,000 Face Shields to New York Hospitals

Diamond's face shields feature a dual-purpose design that
minimizes the spread of, and reduces exposure to, COVID-19.

Diamond Packaging today announced the donation of 100,000 face shields to Northwell Health, New York’s largest health care provider and private employer, with 72,000 employees across the state. The donation is part of Diamond’s continuing effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic by designing and manufacturing face shields for healthcare workers across the country.

Diamond’s face shields will be distributed among Northwell’s 23 hospitals and 800 health care facilities. They will provide additional personal protection for Northwell’s frontline staff fighting COVID-19 at the epicenter of the pandemic.

Diamond Packaging Donates 10,000 Face Shields to UR Medicine Home Care

Diamond designed, manufactured, and donated
nearly 10,000 shields to UR Medicine Home Care.

Monroe County Legislature President Dr. Joe Carbone (Irondequoit) and County Legislator Karla F. Boyce (Henrietta, Mendon, Pittsford & Rush) joined Karla Fichter, CEO, and David Rydell, President, of Diamond Packaging, to donate 10,000 face shield masks to UR Medicine Home Care in Webster, NY. The face shields were designed, manufactured, and donated by Diamond Packaging.

“These masks protect the eyes, so when our staff go into patients’ homes, they’re fully protected,” said Jane Shukitis, President and CEO of University of Rochester Medicine Home Care. “And they also wear a gown, they wear gloves, they wear covering on their feet, but this has been one of the products that has been really helpful.”

“We saw an opportunity to help in this challenging time,” said CEO and owner Karla Fichter. “We have the technical and design capabilities, resources, and material availability that a lot of companies just don’t have right now. We’ve been working on designing, redesigning, and improving the face shields to come up with something that can truly benefit all of the brave people out there on the front lines every day and taking chances for themselves and their families.”
