Diamond Packaging Named to EPA's Green Power Partnership Leadership Club

Diamond Packaging Named to EPA's
Green Power Partner Leadership Club
Diamond Packaging has again been named to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership Leadership Club in 2014.

The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that encourages organizations to use green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated with conventional electricity use. The Partnership currently has more than 1,200 Partner organizations voluntarily using billions of kilowatt-hours of green power annually. Partners include a wide variety of leading organizations such as Fortune 500® companies, small and medium sized businesses, local, state, and federal governments, and colleges and universities.

The Green Power Leadership Club (GPLC) honors Partners that substantially exceed EPA’s minimum usage requirements for an organization-wide commitment. Since 2007 Diamond has purchased clean, renewable wind energy for 100% of its electrical energy requirements through wind energy marketer and developer Community Energy. The purchase illustrates the company’s continued commitment to the environment and the community. more

Global Packaging Alliance Holds Annual Meeting in India

The Global Packaging Alliance (GPA), a worldwide consortium of medium-sized, independent packaging manufacturers, plans to strengthen its cooperation in the field of packaging design and development for global brands. Diamond Packaging (USA) and Kumar Printers (India) are now joining forces with Masterpack (South Africa) and Colorpak (Australia) in adopting the brandpack concept developed by the rlc | packaging group. Created in 2007, brandpack is the rlc center of excellence for complete packaging design.

At the annual GPA meeting recently held in New Delhi, India, management representatives from the nine member companies discussed the different market conditions in the worldwide network based on sustainability and quality of life issues. In the emerging countries, for example, the current trend toward plastic film packaging poses a serious problem for environmental protection. This is primarily due to the underdeveloped recycling systems in these regions. At the same time, there is a demand in these markets for sustainable packaging solutions and high-quality design for global brands. more
