What is Energy-from-Waste (EfW) ?

This video explains the Energy-from-Waste (EfW) process.
Energy-from-Waste (EfW) video
Zero manufacturing waste to landfill is defined by Diamond Packaging as 100% landfill waste diversion through a combination of recycling and energy recovery solutions. In Diamond’s case it accounts for all waste related to the manufacture of folding cartons, including paperboard, plastic, metal, industrial waste, and regulated waste, with the exception of construction and demolition (CD) waste.

To achieve zero manufacturing waste to landfill status, Diamond’s two manufacturing facilities reduced their overall waste streams and increased recycling rates to approximately 98 percent. All remaining waste is sent for fuels blending or to Covanta Energy for Energy-from-Waste (EfW), eliminating the need for landfill disposal.

What is Energy-from-Waste (EfW)?

This video, produced by the ASME Energy Forum and Covanta Energy, uses colorful drawings, diagrams and step-by-step explanations to explain the EfW process.

Global Packaging Alliance® (GPA)
Holds Annual Meeting in Dubai
Which technologies can packaging manufacturers use to effectively help their customers fight product piracy? Representatives from the global consortium of independent, medium-sized packaging manufacturers convened from all over the world to discuss current packaging trends and technologies.

According to the latest customs report published by the European Commission, European Union (EU) customs officials confiscated nearly 40 million counterfeit products valued at nearly one billion euros ($1.3 billion) in 2012. This resulted in damages suffered by branded goods manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies in particular, some of whom are customers of GPA members.
